YouTube Fight Challenge Issued by Akira Corassani, DFX Pro Staff Member

YouTube Fight Challenge Issued by Akira Corassani, DFX Pro Staff Member

This past Sunday, Swedish fighter Akira Corassani (11-3, 1NC) took to YouTube to call out Irish fighter ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor (13-2) for a match-up. Featherweight Corassani, a Pro UFC Fighter and DFX pro staff member who uses the DFX Powerball Gyro line and its other sports and fitness equipment during his constant high and low intensity training sessions, hopes to square off with McGregor August in Boston at the UFC’s first show on the soon-to-be launched FOX Sports 1 channel. Both men were winners at the UFC on FUEL TV 9 event in Sweden last month. See the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXCoRG-FUIs&feature=player_embedded.

Corassani, an avid Twitter user, requested McGregor respond to the challenge bout to @akiracorassani. No word yet on acceptance from McGregor. The Corassani official Facebook page, loaded with training images and backstage views, has no notice of fight challenge acceptance at this writing, is here: https://www.facebook.com/corassani. Keep an eye on these sites for new developments!

UFC on FUEL 9 results: Akira Corassani ends Robbie Peralta's 10-fight unbeaten streak

Peralta's reputation as a heavy-handed bomber along with an impressive 10-fight unbeaten streak made him a significant favorite in the eyes of most, with the betting line setting around four-and-a-half to one in his favor. But it was the hometown kid Akira Corassani who made good, upsetting Peralta in a unanimous decision.

The judges scored it 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.

We are very proud of our sponsor!

“Corassani used movement, range and angles to stay away from Peralta's power, even though he did taste it in the second, getting staggered with a sharp left hook. But he also flashed his own striking in the same round, drilling Peralta with an overhand right that wobbled his opponent. Because the second round was close and up for grabs, Corassani sealed the deal in the third with several takedowns. Corassani’ s win makes him 11-3 with 1 no contest, while the end of Peralta's successful run makes him 16-4 with 1 no contest.”

Can't wait to watch our Akira Corassani fight again!!

Rousey and Carmouche competed on a card filled with men and looked perfectly at home in the main event.

The entire DFX staff attended the weigh -ins Friday February 22nd  as well as the UFC 157 event Saturday February 23rd.

Liz Carmouche and Ronda Rousey really caused a ruckus during their walkout and the crowd all but lost their mind when the fight began. They really went at it from the get go and we were all at the edge of our seat when Carmouche came so close to choking out Rousey. Ronda retaliated with a series of punches and dominated Carmouche with her infamous arm bar. The energy was great and the DFX team was extremely excited and blessed to be there.

The fight marked a monumental moment in sports history, a time when the women showed that they too could shine in this sport.

They proved that women could compete on a show featuring men and still be the star attractions. Too often, women's sports are given secondary roles.

The majority of television, print and online coverage of sports is about men. This might be the night that nudges the pendulum closer to the center.

Rousey and Carmouche competed on a card filled with men and looked perfectly at home in the main event.

The pressure on Rousey was enormous. She carried an unprecedented promotional load, for months filling every waking moment that she wasn't training with interviews.

Not only was there intense pressure on her to win, but it was specifically to win by first-round arm bar. Anything less would have been perceived as a disappointment.

The duo did much more, though, for women who have been denied opportunity or not given equal access solely because of their gender. They stood up to the scrutiny and the grind and the pressure and delivered a scintillating performance.

Our Sponsor Court McGee took on MMA veteran Josh Neer

Feb 23, 2013

The Ultimate Fighter 11 winner Court McGee took on MMA veteran Josh Neer in a welterweight battle at UFC 157.

We were ecstatic that we could all support our fighter, Court McGee who  has dropped weight for this event and looked great sporting his DFX t-shirt as he undressed for the scale. With 33 wins under his belt Josh Neer was still no match for “The Crusher.”  McGee used great punching combinations to keep Neer at bay, and eventually, the strikes took their toll on Neer's face. In addition, McGee hurt Neer's liver in the first round, nearly finishing him. To his credit, Neer took a beating and kept coming, but it wasn't enough, and McGee won by unanimous decision.

The bout, two weeks away, will be held Feb. 23 at UFC 157 in Anaheim, CA. This, the first women's fight in UFC history, is a highly anticipated event. The UFC has created a compelling preview show to chronicle Rousey and challenger Carmouche as they prepare for the bout.

DFX Sports and Fitness Releases Top Tips on Protecting and Strengthening Bones

Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease that affects Americans today. Sports rehabilitation and fitness company, DFX Sports and Fitness, has compiled the following top tips to protect and strengthen bones as a way to improve overall health and fitness.

With Osteoporosis affecting over ten million Americans and another thirty four million already at risk with weakened bones, bone strengthening and protection is vital at an early age (lifelinescreening.com/health-updates/health-news/strengthen-bones.aspx). Sports rehabilitation and fitness company, DFX Sports provides these top reasons and tips to ensure that strengthening and protection is incorporated into a daily routine.

“There are many things people can do to help strengthen and protect their bones,” says DFX Executive Assistant, Rose Merry Blanco. “Most people just forget to maintain a healthy diet and incorporating a few simple steps can really make a huge difference.”

As a way to increase overall health and prevent osteoporosis, DFX provides readers with the following recommendations:

1.    Up the calcium intake. Calcium is a vital building block to strengthen bone tissue. According to WebMD’s experts, “Calcium gives bone its hardness and is very important for bone strength.”

2.    Get screened. A bone density test can be extremely beneficial in finding out how much care needs to be taken and patients may also find that bone-building medication may also be an option.

3.    Recognize and include calcium-rich foods into your diet. Soy, fish, bananas, almonds and potatoes are all foods that are high in calcium and fulfill many other nutritional needs for a healthy diet (shape.com/healthy-eating/diet-tips/best-healthy-foods-strong-bones).

4.    Last, but not least - an important step to prevent osteoporosis is exercise. By incorporating three simple types of exercises into a daily routine, bone mass and density is strengthened and build the thickness of bones. Weight-bearing exercises, resistance training and increasing flexibility are three workouts that come highly recommended by health professionals.

DFX Sports and Fitness makes it easy to incorporate exercise into a daily routine with their DFX Powerball. The Powerball incorporates everything needed to increase bone and muscle mass: weight-bearing, resistance and flexibility.
“The Powerball is really an incredible tool for bone strength and not only the prevention of osteoporosis, but also carpal tunnel and repetitive stress injuries as well,” says Blanco. “The low impact resistance training makes it easy for anyone of any age to use and can really help promote blood circulation, and strengthen, tone, and increase muscle mass.”

Rafael Natal will be fighting Magnus Cedenblad tomorrow night with UFC on Fox. UFC on FOX 6 takes place Jan. 26 at United Center in Chicago. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook.

Spencer currently is riding a three-fight win streak, and in his two most recent bouts (for Bellator and Legacy FC), he scored wins over Joseph Daily and then-unbeaten Evan Cutts. The four-year pro had been scheduled to fight Roy Spoon in April at Legacy FC 19, but he instead signed with the UFC with the organization's blessing.
